Jump into the Hiring Pools!
By now you have received a couple of emails from Dean Nicola Pitchford with the news that on December 1, an online form for Hiring Pools for Summer 2017, Fall 2017 and Spring 2018 classes goes live. The hiring pools allow adjuncts to submit their preferences for classes and availability to teach.
All adjuncts must complete this form between December 1 and December 15. Instructions have been provided and the interface is clean and well designed. Still, any new online tool may present challenges.
We are here to help with completing this form!
Adjunct volunteers and Dean Nicola Pitchford will be available next week to help any adjuncts who may need assistance with the Hiring Pools form.
There is a schedule for in-person assistance for next week. Please check your DU email for the schedule.
In addition, you may phone the Office of Academic Affairs with questions about the form or process.
Classes will be assigned following the procedure outlined in the Collective Bargaining Agreement, Article 10 Tier System and Stability of Appointments (pp. 12-16). The CBA can be read in its entirety on the DU Intranet.
Ratify the Bylaws
The Bylaws Committee completed their work and the Executive Board of SEIU 1021 has approved our Bylaws. Now we need to ratify the Bylaws for our chapter so that the Elections Committee can get to work. Bylaws are attached here.
Elections are coming!
An Election Committee has formed. Thanks to those adjuncts who volunteered to serve on the Elections Committee. This committee, including our SEIU Representative Jessica Lawless, will plan, carry out, and oversee the election of officers, stewards and a labor-management committee for our Dominican union chapter.
Only members will be eligible to vote for ratification and in elections. Please fill out the attached membership form and send to [email protected].
As always, please contact us with your questions and concerns.
